The main goal of the game is to checkmate your opponent's king ♟️👑 This means attacking them so that they have no possible moves left to escape. Victory depends on your strategy, attentiveness and ability to predict your opponent's moves.
Each piece has its own unique abilities. A pawn moves one square forward (or two from its starting position) and attacks diagonally. Upon reaching the last row, it can transform into any other piece. The rook moves horizontally or vertically, the bishop moves diagonally and the knight moves in an L-shape and can jump over other pieces.
The queen combines the power of the rook and the bishop, moving in any direction and the king can move one square around itself. Castling is also available if the king and rook have not yet made any moves.
When the king is under attack, it is check ⚠️ If no move can save it, it is checkmate and the game is over. The game can also end in a draw, for example in a stalemate or by mutual agreement.
Turn on help mode💡 in the settings to see hints during the game: blue shows a possible move and red shows a capture.
